Haywood Building, Athens, GA

Red Arrow Line’s  Craftsman HO scale Haywood Building  kit. Inspired by a structure still standing  on Clayton Street in Athens, GA., this three story building was built in 1892. The ground floor was used as  retail space with large plate glass windows, most recently a vintage clothing shop. The upper floors with a separate front entrance had multiple uses as offices and residential.

The original structure was built with red brick, featuring cast iron entry door and display window framework that were common elements during the late 19^th and early 20^th centuries. Many of the buildings of this era survive in towns large and small, although some have been modernized in some fashion.  The iron work was supplied by companies like Mesker Brothers Iron Works originally based in St. Louis , Missouri, marketed by catalog and components shipped by rail to building sites throughout the country.

This kit includes laser engraved brick walls and corner pieces, detailed engraved front “iron” work, laser cut and engraved fire escape, windows, signs, and trim. Also included chimneys, LED lamps, and window glazing material.

Our kits are inspired by actual historic buildings, many still standing. Each kit is individually laser cut and engraved in very small batches after extensive research of available photos and other information.

All kits include detailed illustrated instructions.
